We have begun a “Visioning Process.” I’m looking for a better word than “process.” Process sounds too cold and sterile. This is a journey. This is spiritual discernment. This is prayer. This is conversation. This is listening. This is the chance to “un-see” and see again. This is our opportunity to clarify our understanding of church, mission, strategy, and community, and we need your eyes and imagination.
In such a rapidly changing, technologically heavy world, some things never change: God’s love, God’s care, God’s presence, God’s mission of redemption and reconciliation. We just need the ability to “unsee” the things holding us back, limiting our ability to sync with God’s work and the capacity to see new opportunities and better strategies. Do you remember the story of Elisha’s attendant waking him up one morning? “What shall we do? We are surrounded!” Elisha calmly responded, “Do not be afraid, for there are more with us than there are with them.” Then Elisha prayed: “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” (2 Kings 6:15-19) God answered the prayer. May God open our eyes that we may see!
Please join us in praying for our Visioning Leadership team. There are 3 Congregational Conversations (February 8, March 18, and April 30) where we pray and discuss our Past, Present, and Future. We need you – your best thinking, your commitment to prayer, your opened eyes for opportunity and mission. Just imagine what God is going to do!
Just imagine what God is going to do!
